Traditional Yogasana Sports Championship - Competition Rules & Categories
  • Entry fees per individual candidate are USD 100 only.
  • Traditional Yoga Asana championship participants will be provided with a participant medal and certificate.
  • Awards and Merit certificates will be awarded to the First, Second, & Third place candidates. Merit certificates will be presented to Fourth, Fifth and Sixth place candidates.
  • The winner of First place candidates in each age category will be able to participate in the Champion of Champion Round.
  • Categories of postures: Forward Bending, Back Bending, Twisting, Balancing (arm or leg), Inversion.
  • Competitors are required to perform:
    • Three compulsory Asanas from Group A
    • Three compulsory Asanas from Group B
    • Two own choices of Asanas (should be different categories). Total 8 Asanas.
  • Total 8 Asanas need to be performed in the Traditional Yoga Championship (3+3+2 = 8 Asanas)
  • Holding Time – 15 seconds for each Asana

Traditional Yogasana Champion of Champion

Only those who win first place in the Traditional Yogasana Championship in their respective age group are eligible to take part.

A total of 10 asanas must be performed as mentioned below (must follow this order and holding each posture for 15 seconds):

  1. One Asana - Forward Bend Standing (FBS)
  2. One Asana - Forward Bend Floor (FBF)
  3. One Asana - Back Bend Standing (BBS)
  4. One Asana - Back Bend Floor (BBF)
  5. One Asana – Twisting Body Standing (TBS)
  6. One Asana – Twisting Body Floor (TBF)
  7. One Asana – Leg Balance Forward Bend (LBF)
  8. One Asana – Leg Balance Backward Bend (LBB)
  9. One Asana - Hand Balance Forward Bend (HBF)
  10. One Asana – Hand Balance Backward Bend (HBB)

Holding Time: 15 seconds each

Title awards (Male & Female Separate Category):

  • Champion of Champion CUP – USD 350 (Male), USD 350 (Female)
  • 1st Runner-up CUP - USD 200 (Male), USD 200 (Female)
  • 2nd Runner-up CUP – USD 100 (Male), USD 100 (Female)
Own Choice Yogasana Sports Championship

Entry Fees Per Individual Candidate are USD 100 only.

Own Choice of Yoga Asana Championship participants will be provided with the participant medal and certificate.

Awards and Merit certificates will be awarded to the First, Second, & Third place candidates. Merit certificate will be presented to Fourth, Fifth, and Sixth place candidates.

Categories of postures (5 Asanas):

  1. One Asana - Forward Bend
  2. One Asana - Back Bend
  3. One Asana - Twisting
  4. One Asana - Balance (Arm Balance or Leg Balance)
  5. One Asana - Inversion

Artistic Yogasana Sports Championship (Individual Age Group and Instructions )

Entry Fees: USD 10 per individual candidate

Performance Details:

  • Artistic Yoga: Presentation of various Yoga Asanas synchronized with music without break.
  • Duration: 150–180 seconds
  • Posture Holding: Minimum 6 seconds per posture
  • Transitions: Must be slow, artistic, and use maximum floor area
  • Number of Asanas:
    1. Forward bending (standing)
    2. Forward bending (on floor)
    3. Back bending (standing)
    4. Back bending (on floor)
    5. Single leg balance forward bending
    6. Single leg balance backward bending
    7. Twisting (standing)
    8. Twisting (on floor)
    9. Hand balance forward bending
    10. Hand balance backward bending
  • Sequence: Competitors may change the order but must perform all categories
  • Penalty: Missing any category = 2 marks deduction per missing asana

Music:

  • Allowed: Country’s Folk, Patriotic, Devotional, Instrumental, Light Music
  • Not Allowed: Vulgar songs, Item songs

Marking System (Total 150 Marks):

  • Postures: 10 Postures × 10 Marks = 100 Marks
  • Performance Time: Must be completed with in the time between 150–180 seconds = 10 Marks
  • Asana Holding Time: 10 Asana holding time( minimum 6 seconds each asana holding)× 2 Marks each = 20 Marks
  • Music Selection: Proper and allowed music = 5 Marks
  • Costume: Appropriate costume = 5 Marks
  • Artistic Steps, Flow, Expressions: Performance quality = 10 Marks

Performance Details

  • Artistic Pair Yoga consists of presentation of various Asanas and making of a pyramid with music.
  • Both participants perform two different postures at a time. Performing the same posture = disqualification.
  • Body touch is allowed as per discretion of competitors.
  • Making of pyramid is given preference.
  • Synchronization of body movements with music is given top priority.
  • Number of Asanas: 10 postures of competitor’s choice.
    1. Forward bending (standing)
    2. Forward bending (on floor)
    3. Back bending (standing)
    4. Back bending (on floor)
    5. Single leg balance forward bending
    6. Single leg balance backward bending
    7. Twisting (standing)
    8. Twisting (on floor)

  • Sequence may be changed but all categories must be performed. Penalty: 2 marks deduction per missing category and no marks for that asana.
  • Music Allowed: Country’s Folk, Patriotic, Devotional, Instrumental, Light Music. Not Allowed: Vulgar/Item songs.
  • Duration: 150–180 seconds. Posture Holding: Minimum 6 seconds per posture. Transitions: Must be slow, artistic, and synchronized, using maximum allotted floor area.

Marking System (Total 300 Marks)

  • Yoga Postures: 10 Postures × 10 marks × 2 players = 200 Marks
  • Performance Time: Total Performance Time must be completed within (150–180 seconds) = 10 Marks
  • Asana Holding Time: 10 Asana Holding Time(minimum 6 seconds holding) × 2 Marks × 2 players = 40 Marks
  • Music Selection: 5 Marks
  • Costume: 5 Marks
  • Artistic Steps, Flow, and Expressions: Artistic Steps, Flow, and Expressions = 20 Marks (10 + 10)
  • Pyramid: Pyramid (2 Marks × 10 pyramids) = 20 Marks
Rhythmic Yogasana Sports Championship (Pair)

The Rhythmic Yoga (also known as pair Yoga)

Pair Information

Performance Details

  • Rhythmic Yoga is the presentation of various Asanas (postures) performed with music, i.e. Country’s Folk Music, Patriotic Song Music, Devotional Music, Instrumental, and Light Music. Vulgar Songs and Item Songs are not allowed.
  • The same posture should be performed by the pair together. There should not be any body touch between the two participants. Perfect synchronization of body movements with the music is required.
  • Number of postures performed should be 10 asanas of competitor’s choice. The 10 Yoga Asana postures must include:
  • Making of pyramid is given preference.
  • Synchronization of body movements with music is given top priority.
  • Number of Asanas: 10 postures of competitor’s choice.
    1. Forward bending in standing
    2. Forward bending on floor
    3. Back bending in standing
    4. Back bending on floor
    5. Single leg balance forward bending
    6. Single leg balance backward bending
    7. Twisting while standing
    8. Twisting on floor
    9. Hand balance forward bending
    10. Hand balance backward bending
  • Competitors can change the sequence of these asana categories as per their performance but must perform all categories. If a competitor does not perform all categories, they will not get marks for the missed asana and will get a penalty of 2 Marks for each missing category.
  • Time duration for the presentation will be 150–180 seconds. Each posture must be held for at least 6 seconds. Transitions from one posture to another should be slow, rhythmic, and synchronized while using the maximum floor area.
  • Awards and Merit certificates will be awarded to the First, Second, & Third place candidates. Merit certificate will be presented to Fourth, Fifth and Sixth place candidates.

Marking System (Total 300 Marks)

  • Yoga Postures: 10 Postures × 10 marks × 2 players = 200 Marks

Artistic Group Yogasana (Group Yoga Dance) Rules & Details

Artistic Group Yogasana, also known as Group Yoga Dance, is the presentation of various Asanas (postures) including pyramid formations with music. It involves physical strength, power, flexibility, control, coordination, grace, and balance. Artistic Group Yogasana demonstrates the ability to execute all movements as a unit.

  • All participants will perform different postures at a time in groups of two, three, four, or all together.
  • Number of postures/formations performed should be 10 asanas of competitor’s choice. Among these 10 postures/formations:
  • 5 formations must be of Rhythmic Yogasana nature, meaning 5 same asanas should be performed by all 5 athletes.
  • The remaining 5 postures/formations can be pyramidal or any other formation using the 5 asana categories: Leg Balance, Hand Balance, Back Bend, Forward Bend, and Body Twisting.
  • Competitors can change the sequence but must perform all categories. Missing any category = no marks for that asana and penalty of 2 marks per missing category. Pyramidal formation is allowed up to 2 layers.
  • Performance must present a theme that matches the music. Allowed music: Country’s Folk, Patriotic, Devotional, Instrumental, and Light Music. Vulgar and Item songs are not allowed.
  • Time duration for the presentation: 210–240 seconds. Each posture must be held for at least 6 seconds. Transitions should be slow, artistic, and synchronized, using the maximum allotted floor area.
  • Awards to the First, Second, & Third place candidates.

Marking System (Total 300 Marks)

  • 1. Yoga Postures: 10 Postures × 10 marks = 100 Marks
  • 2. Performance Time: Total Performance Time must be completed within (210–240 seconds) = 10 Marks
  • 3. Asana Holding Time: 10 Asana Holding Time (minimum 6 seconds holding) × 2 Marks = 20 Marks
  • 4. Music & Rhythm: Music & Rhythm = 50 Marks
  • 5. Costume: Costume = 10 Marks
  • 6. Use of Floor: Use of floor = 10 Marks
  • 7. Theme, Character, Flow and Expressions: Theme, Character, Flow and Expressions = 50 Marks
  • 8. Pyramid/Structure: Pyramid/Structure = 50 Marks
